Recent Projects
On this page you will find some examples of recent work completed by us at Designs by Em & J. All of these projects were custom designed with initial prototypes made in Figma, one of our design tools of choice. Development then proceeded inside Webflow, which is a highly customisable and sophisticated website builder that we prefer to use when transferring a custom design over from Figma.
Some of the projects are concepts showing a variety of layout options and effects to suit a range of use cases from portfolios and galleries to blogs and startups. This is an advanced fully custom website with three CMS collections to manage blogs posts, reviews and their writers. Content is focused on technology and gadgets but this together with color themes and fonts can be modified to adapt to almost any personal or professional topic or subject of interest or business.

Re-Design of Old School Arcades

The original website was used as inspiration for this major re-design. Colour schemes, fonts and their sizes, along with a healthy dose of animations were explored before a design guide consisting of an attractive and engaging combination of these elements was selected for use in developing the new version of the website.

For those that require a portfolio to show their work on the web, this concept provides just the right mix of minimalism coupled with subtle effects and animations. The colour palette is bright and cheerful without appearing garish and overwhelming so that the content of each card on the homepage takes centre stage.

The principle focus of this website was to review classic gaming locations found in and around London from a bygone era. Old School Arcades has a dedicated section for the article reviews that highlights the power of a content management system to update, organise and display dynamic content.

An initial concept is realised using the Figma design tool and modified through iterations until just the right combination of text and images are found to complement one another. Webflow is then used to develop these static designs into a fully functioning multi-page interactive website with an example blog.
